I visited this restaurant for lunch today, and as always was greatly impressed by the standard of the food and service.

The restaurant is fairly small but nicely decorated, bright and modern with an oriental feel to it. The toilets were small but again clean and bright.

The food was absolutely amazing. It really is in a different class to your average Chinese takeaway - it seems there are a lot more natural flavours and a lot less MSG. The scollops and prawns were particularly lovely. We were in a large group and asked for the manager to make a good selection of dishes for us as it would have been too much hassle for everyone to make a choice from the menu - and the selection he brought us was just fantastic.

We were all offered a free drink as well, and even the chocolates at the end of the meal were delicious. Service was exceptional. A real treat and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Small and upscale Chinese restaurant in the Orpington high street.  I picked this one mostly because it seemed like a fun idea to eat at a restaurant beginning with an X.  But it was worthwhile.  The service was attentive, the restaurant very clean including the loo, and the food was of generous quantity, though not quite what I was expecting.  What they called Mongolian lamb was a large hunk of rather dry lamb meat.

Went here last week, and had a totally different experience to last time. Out of the mixed starters, only the prawn toast and ribs were any good. The smoked shredded chicken is sweet instead of spicy (not what I'm used too) and the satay sauce tasted like curry (it was very smooth with no crunch - again, not what I'm used too). We shared main courses and again I could hardly eat it. There was no flavour to anything and the rice was so overcooked.

The service is a bit hit or miss, and I didn't find anyone but the owner friendly. And the tables are so close together, forget having a private conversation.

To be honest it baffles me that so many people eat here. Although my friend loves it, so it may just be my taste buds!

The highlight of my evening? The apple fritters. Perfect and very deserving of two stars!

On this occasion our visit to Xian was very disappointing as the staff did not seem happy and seemed pushy and in a rush. starters vegetable pancakes very flat not enough stuffing and the butterfly prawns were a bit overcooked. When we eventually started to get our main meals it was given in drib and drabs scallops then little later noodles then little later lemon chicken and then little later duck in plum sauce and each item was cold not even luke warm. Did not say anything as the staff seemed rushed and moody as it was. One customer next to me ordered some wine and the waiter broke the cork in the bottle the customers did not look impressed as the waiter carried on for a good few minutes trying to dig the cork out of the bottle. Also it was very busy the night we went so was quite a lot of families with children so very noisy also the atmosphere of the restaurant for the evening did not feel cosy or romantic as lights remained full on no dimness or candles. I think I will stick with Ming in the future.

One of Orpington's finest Chinese restaurants, with great service and perfect staff! I go here regularly with friends and I wouldn't change it as a regular now. I really enjoy the experience every time and the owner, names Victor, is so nice! I love any prawn dishes here and black bean! It can be a little expensive depending on dishes and how much you order but it's just one of the best around!
